System Status:
All systems are running normally
Note of the month:
I have a email address at IHOT like this "name@IHOT.COM" and can't send e-mail. I can receive email message. What is causing this issue. Note: this doesn't apply if you have a web hosting account and not using a e-mail address at IHOT.COM
First you need to ask yourself some question. How do you connect to the Internet. If you are using a IHOT Dial Up Connection to the Internet this shouldn't be a issue. Your outgoing mail setting should be "mail.ihot.com" (without the quotes). If you are not using a IHOT Dial up connections or IHOT DSL service you need to keep reading to fix your problem.
If you are connecting to the Internet using DSL or Cable, for a high speed connection that is t likely the what is causing your problem. All outgoing mail uses something called Port 25 to send the mail out. To combat spam the DSL/Cable companies prevent you from sending out mail using port 25, unless you are using their mail server to send out the mail. They call this blocking Port 25. ATT does this all the time. IHOT has no control over this issue at all. It is all done at your DSL/Cable provider.
But it is easy to fix. You need to contact your DSL/Cable provider and explain your problem in sending mail. You need to ask them for their outgoing mail setting. They will provide you with the setting that you would put into your Mail program, commonly called the "Outgoing Mail Setting" or SMTP Outgoing Mail Setting" . Check with them if you will need to turn on authentication, meaning you have to provide a user name and password for your DSL/Cable provider to send out mail. This would be something you would get from you DSL/Cable provider. So be sure to ask.
The second thing that can cause this is having a message stuck in your out-box. Check that you have no messages in your out-box waiting to be sent. If you see any, delete them, then restart your e-mail program and try again.
You will always be able to send mail using the IHOT Web Mail program because you are attached to to our severs and the mail being sent is going out directly from our server.
How to use e-mail forwarding:
E-mail forwarding is the most effective way to receive email address sent to multiple addresses without creating multiple POP3 e-mail accounts. The most common redirects are webmaster@yourdomain.com, sales@yourdomain.com, support@yourdomain.com, info@yourdomain.com etc. You can use your control panel features to create redirect for these or other addresses and send all the mails to addresses delivered to POP3 accounts of your choice. This is an most easy way to send emails to several members of your company which avoids hassle of creating and monitoring multiple accounts in your email client.
